Sicily - early June 2023, 5 days, 4 nights
Variety in a confined space - A culinary treat in a class of its own. In focus: The dynamic Etna. More terroir hardly possible
This trip to my homeland is a very special highlight. Sicily is culturally and culinary alone insanely exciting with many contrasts, oenologically a separate continent. We will visit the best wineries on Etna and the surrounding area, dine in great restaurants and quaint insider trattorias and also enjoy one or two cultural things (e.g. a trip to Taormina or to the famous fish market in Catania). Overnight stays are in special hotels and luxury guesthouses with lots of charm. One of them is located directly at the sea, where the owner, himself a wine lover, buys fresh every day and prepares the delicate dishes. In the evening we dine on the sheltered terrace with the "one million dollar view" of the sea. There are only 6 rooms / suites here. With appropriate bookings we have the whole villa exclusively for us. When it comes to wine, the stars of the region that I have known for 20 years are all on the schedule (Benanti, Terre Nere, Passopisciaro, Frank Cornelissen, Pietradolce, Tasca d'Almerita.). Also on this trip there will certainly be a vertical tasting or two.
